Nigel Couter (RCST, BTAA) provides Bowen Technique treatment at Serenity Sanctuary in Gosport. He is a member of the Bowen Association UK.
What is Bowen Technique
A Bowen Technique treatment consists of a series of gentle rolling moves with frequent pauses, giving the body time to benefit from each set. Our practitioner, Nigel Couter RCST, BTAA, treats the body as a whole or he can target a specific problem because he is able to pinpoint stress build-up in muscle groups. The Bowen Technique releases this stress and it balances and stimulates. Once the body is relaxed, the restorative process begins.
Bowen Technique is referred to as ‘complementary’ – meaning it enhances and complements other medical treatments. However, it should be noted that receiving other manipulative therapies immediately following a Bowen session can undermine the effectiveness of the Bowen work. It is better to wait a week before starting any other treatments.
History of the Bowen Technique
Tom Bowen developed in Australia about 60 years ago a comprehensive range of procedures that subsequently became known as the Bowen Technique. This form of complementary therapy is now practiced in about 30 countries world-wide. It involves light and precise moves over muscles, ligaments, tendons, fascia, nerves and skeleton to realign and balance the body.
It can be used to treat the body as a whole or can target a specific problem. The list of conditions it may help is not exhaustive but includes Back Pain, Sciatica, Migraine, Sports Injuries, Knee, Ankle and Foot Pain, Frozen Shoulder and Carpal Tunnel.
