Helen Smith (CC ADV) practises EFT at Serenity Sanctuary. This energy therapy is growing in popularity and is being used by a growing number of clinicians, psychologists and psychiatrists.
What is Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)?
The Technique employs tapping – the different fingers of your hand on different parts of your body. First, there are different hand tapping points including the tips of the fingers (where the skin meets the nail) as well as other parts of the hand.
As you perform the Technique, you use your hand tapping points in a sequence to tap corresponding tapping points on your body, most of which are around your face. These are the eyebrow, the side of the eye, under the eye, under the nose, the chin, the collar bone and under the arm. Following a sequence, you tap these locations in turn while reciting some trigger phrases.
Statements made while tapping
The idea of EFT is that you must be specific about the problem you are trying to tap out. You need to be specific about a problem. For example, instead of “feeling worried”, you would say you are “feeling worried about my job interview tomorrow”.
As you go through the tapping routine, you say the set up and reminder phrases – stating how you are going to overcome the problem.
EFT sessions with Helen Smith
EFT is something you can practise in your own home, and you are advised to do this in order to reinforce the work done in the sessions. However, it is important to have a trained professional like Helen to teach you the tapping routines and to explain how to develop your statements in a way that will bring the right emotional and positive results.
